Onde é que está o capital?
At the beginning of the 80s, waves of music by
dubious quality, with rare exceptions.
Most letters at the time had a
popular nature, simple to understand but there was very little rock as most of the
They themselves had an absolutely Pop character!!
Among the rubble of quality music or music similar to Zumba
at Caneco there was no song that addressed the economic/social situation
of the country and then we all feel like we are in la la land, out of touch with reality and drunk in a
feeling of; Tomorrow we will see.
In a conversation, among many I had with Celino Bosta, better known as Belino
Costa and sometimes João Belo, a journalist from Sete, came up with the idea of doing something different, a
lyrics whose topic was more realistic, as the so-called Portuguese rock at the time, addressed
often just banalities. Added to this is the fact that some professionals
of the press at that time, mentioned that I only sang in English and some
doubts about my vocal ability to sing in the Camões language.
Belino showed me Capital, a theme that I found interesting and I shaped it to give you
musicality. The fire was put out and was irreversible. I spoke to my partner at the time,
the infamous Filipe Mendes and the Transatlântico, which at the time sailed in dry waters
and we edited the song “Onde é que está o Capital” which reached the top of the national charts in
1982 and unusual popularity in my career. A resounding success!
Today again and after 41 years, the theme has a current character and hence the idea of com
new arrangements and a new spirit to return to the charge and question who has the capital.
